A source told Radio Dabanga that government troops were traveling in a convoy of 20 vehicles towards Alawna, the area which witnessed clashes on Wednesday between government soldiers and Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minawi forces.
Eyewitnesses said the force stormed the area at 10:00 a.m. indiscriminately attacking, beating, and abusing villagers, who had welcomed the soldiers into the area.
They said the troops killed a man, named as Salih Adam El Daw, and injured six others. A man named Suleiman Haroun Younis is said to be missing.
The soldiers looted homes and shops before burning some of them down. Many residents fled the area.
The deceased is reportedly yet to be buried, and the six wounded villagers have not been taken to hospital.
Witnesses said residents reported the incident to security authorities and the governor of North Darfur, Osman Yusif Kibir.
They also took the case to the police.
Residents said authorities did not act on the case until Friday evening.
